Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP) In-Home Nursing

Medicaid-funded in-home nursing and personal care for medically fragile children under 21—so your child can receive care at home, at no cost to eligible families.

What is the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP)?

Navigating daily life with a medically fragile child can be overwhelming but you don’t have to do it alone. Our GAPP Services Program is designed to support families like yours by providing skilled, in-home assistance with your child’s everyday needs. From feeding and bathing to incontinence care, transfer assistance, grooming, dressing, G-tube care, and medication administration, our licensed professionals deliver compassionate care tailored to your child.

The In-Home Skilled Nursing Program serves children under 21 years old who meet a medical necessity determination, ensuring your child receives the level of support they require in the comfort of your own home. Our goal is to create a safer, more nurturing environment where your child can thrive and where you can have peace of mind.

Free In-Home Care for Children and Young Adults Under 21

If your child is under 21, requires assistance with daily living activities, and has Medicaid, they may qualify for free in-home care services through the GAPP program. Let us help you provide the support your child needs while making your day-to-day life a little easier.

No Wait List

  • This program is not a waiver service, which allows your child to receive services immediately following service approval.
  • Intake and evaluation typically take up to 30 days for service approval.
  • Parents are involved in the development of their child’s service plan, including any service goals.

What Services Can My Child Receive?

GAPP services are provided in the home. Care can include both skilled nursing and personal care support, depending on your child’s approved plan.

Once hours are approved, we create a care schedule that fits your family and start in-home services.

You don’t have to figure out GAPP alone. We walk with you through every step.

Family Caregiver Option

Can a Family Member Get Paid to Care for My Child?

In some situations, GAPP allows a Family Caregiver Option for Personal Care Support services.

This may allow a legally responsible adult who lives with the child (such as a parent or legal guardian) to be hired, trained, and paid by our agency to provide certain personal care services.

Key points:

  • This option applies to personal care support only, not skilled nursing or behavioral aide services
  • The family caregiver must meet background check, CPR, and training requirements and become an employee of our agency
  • Foster parents are not eligible for this option under current GAPP rules

If you’re interested in being your child’s paid caregiver, let us know. We’ll review your situation and explain whether this option may be available for your family.

GAPP is a Medicaid-funded program. Georgia Medicaid pays approved providers directly for services.

If your child doesn’t have Medicaid yet, we can help connect you with the right resources to start that process. The very last piece of this section is I want there to be a form at the bottom of this page that families can fill out so that someone from our office will get back to them. The screenshot below is exactly how I want my form to be and when they complete the form it should be sent to the email address known as GAPP@littleheartshome.com
